Military.com Discount Channel Links Service Members, Vets To Retail Bargains

Military.com has announced the launch of its Discounts Channel to link military personnel with special deals offered by retailers and others to service members, their families and veterans. Military.com, which characterized itself as the largest military and veteran online news and membership organization in the United States, stated that the Discounts Channel features free access for members to a broad range of bargains and information that explains how they work, including requirements for eligibility, as well as general tips for saving money.

“Military families are facing budget cuts that could mean their monthly paycheck won’t go as far, so we wanted to make sure they knew about the many companies and businesses offering special deals exclusively to service members and their families,” said Ward Carroll, editor of Military.com, in announcing the Discounts Channel roll out. “These discounts provided by the private sector and corporate America can literally save a military family hundreds of dollars in a calendar year.”

As commissary prices will go up, military families can use the Discounts Channel to find competitive products at stores such as Walgreens, Millitary.com noted. In addition, however, the Discounts Channel will provide timely information on programs such as the Navy Exchange’s current price match guarantee that allows families to compare costs at retailers like Target, Sears and Amazon.com against Navy Exchange prices to get the best deal.

Military.com asserted that the new Discounts Channel provides hundreds of specific military discounts on goods and services from national businesses and non-profit organizations. Local and regional discounts can be found via Military.com’s Base Guides, the organization stated.
