Neato’s Botvac Named CES Innovation Awards Honoree

Neato’s Wi-Fi enabled Botvac Connected robot vacuum has been selected as a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree in the home appliances product category.

According to the company, when connected to a Wi-Fi network, Botvac Connected lets users vacuum their homes right from the Neato app on their iOS or Android device no matter where they are. Users can also use their smart phone as a remote control device, directing the robot’s cleaning path when connected to a home network.

Available for $699, Botvac Connected offers two different cleaning modes, Lithium Ion battery and Neato’s D shape, designed for cleaning corners and close to edges and walls, the company said.

Using laser Slam technology — best known for its use in the Google self-driving car — Neato robot vacuums use sensors and advanced technology to avoid obstacles, move from room to room and return to their charging bases to recharge before returning to the spot it left off, the company said.

The CES Innovation Awards judging teams evaluated products based on engineering, design, function, features and how the product directly compares to competitors in the market.
