Brookstone has launched a new retail platform that will give makers and tech brands a greater profile, one that will establish a new store format for the company.
The Brookstone Plus Innovation & Retail Platform provides makers and tech brands faster access to stores in malls, and accelerates collection of customer feedback that is essential to product development, the company stated. Brookstone designed the platform to help makers and brands sell products in malls at costs that are competitive to selling through online marketplaces, according to the company.
The company will host the grand opening of its first Brookstone Makers Showcase store at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, NY, on April 21. The store will host crowdfunding campaigners from Indiegogo, inventors from Quirky, and new tech brands such as Anker, Mobvoi and Royole.
Brookstone developed the store to give shoppers hands-on experiences with new products. The store mounts a dedicated product demonstration stage and a sound-dampened Voice Box room where customers can try out voice-centered innovations.
Based on the Brookstone Plus platform, the retailer plans to roll out more Makers Showcase stores in the U.S. and China throughout 2018.
“We’re bringing more than 50 years of retailing expertise to new makers,” said Tom Connolly, Brookstone vp/operations. “We’ve helped launch brands such as Tempur-Pedic, Parrot, iRobot and Segway. Getting people to experience new technologies and have fun is in our DNA. What Makers Showcase does is give makers and tech brands accelerated access to Brookstone stores and our innovation-minded customers across the U.S. and, in the near future, the world.”
