According to a New York Post report, Amazon will bid on four stores as part of an auction of Fairway supermarket locations.
The local upscale New York-area chain is in liquidation. An auction of its 14 stores has drawn Amazon’s attention, the newspaper stated. Two of the stores that Amazon is targeting operate in New Jersey and two in New York City, with one each in the Bronx and Red Hook, Brooklyn, the Post noted.
The company stated, in response to a HomeWorld Business inquiry: “Amazon doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation.”
