Nordstrom has opened the doors to a new, relocated store at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. The company also will open two new Nordstrom Rack off-price stores, one in a development that replaces a Sears location.
The new Nordstrom Rack in Algonquin, IL, will come in at 31,000 square feet over one level in the Algonquin Commons center. Plans call for fall 2016 opening. The new Nordstrom Rack in Poplar Commons, Memphis, TN, will total 33,000 square feet with the opening set for the fall of 2017. Nordstrom noted that it is leasing the Memphis store location from Seritage Growth Properties, which is replacing an existing Sears building with a 135,000 square foot shopping center.
The three-level, 186,000 square-foot Honolulu store features new interior and exterior design elements, a full-service restaurant and bar, cocktail lounge, new departments and an enhanced beauty shopping experience, Nordstrom stated. The store is a relocation from a previous spot at the other end of the Ala Moana mall.
The store offers customers Nordstrom’s new At Home and Trend Accessories departments as well as additional accessories areas, five shoe departments, expansive cosmetics and a comprehensive offering of popular brand names for men, women and children. Customers can browse a variety of designer merchandise from labels such as Kate Spade New York, Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch, Elizabeth & James, Alexander Wang, A.L.C., Rag & Bone and Frame Denim. The Madewell brand, recently launched in the previous Ala Moana Nordstrom location, will take a place in the new store.
The store also will present a growing assortment of Hawaii-based designers and brands, the company added, including Jana Lam, Tula, Workshop 28, Alola Maui, Michal Abramovitz and Simply Sisters.
“We are proud to have been a part of the community for 50 years, and we owe our Hawaii customers a lot for helping us build our business,” said Brian Tatsumura, Nordstrom Ala Moana Center store manager. “We want to provide locals and visitors with the best shopping experience we can, and we look forward to serving them even better in our beautiful brand new store.”
