NRF: Super Bowl Spending To Top $17 Billion

The Super Bowl should be a big deal for retail, the National Retail Federation suggested.

The latest consumer spending data from NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics’ annual Super Bowl survey indicated that this may be one of the strongest Super Bowls yet, with nearly 194 million adults saying they have plans for the big game. Consumers watching the event expect to spend an average $88.65 on food and beverages, merchandise and party supplies, for a total $17.2 billion across the U.S.

According to NRF, 80% of Super Bowl celebrants will spend money on food and drink; 11% on team apparel; 9% on televisions; 8% on decorations; and 6% on furniture.
