Oneida is selling certain assets of its Buffalo China division to BC Acquisition as part of a previously announced plan to shut-down a number of its manufacturing facilities. Under the proposed transaction, BC Acquisition Company, headed by current Oneida senior vp/gm of Buffalo China, Robert Lupica, would operate the factory as an independent supplier to the dinnerware industry, including Oneida. The Buffalo China trademark and logos remain the property of Oneida. The sale includes the factory building and associated equipment, materials and supplies; it does not include the Buffalo China warehouse. Oneida had announced in October 2003 that it decided to close the Buffalo China factory, along with its Juarez and Toluca factories in Mexico; its Shanghai, China, factory; and its Vercilli, Italy, factory, which are all scheduled to close within the next few weeks.
