Overstock Entering The Real Estate Business

In another departure from its original retail operation, Overstock.com is entering the real estate business with its launch of a newly remodeled property management site, Houserie.

Founded in 2003, Houserie became part of Overstock in a February purchase. The site offers landlords and property managers services for working with single-home properties or multi-home complexes, including: potential tenant screening, communication with renters, organization of resident information and rent payment management.

The property management site launch is the first phase of Overstock’s O Real Estate initiatives, the company said, one that focuses on using its advanced search technology to assist customers with real estate needs.

Overstock also operates a cryptocurrency business.

“For nearly 20 years, Overstock has connected customers with premium home goods, helping them build their dream homes. Now, we look forward to expanding those services in the real estate industry. We’re always finding ways to use our technology to help customers find just what they want for their homes. Adding real estate to the mix was a natural fit for our brand,” said Seth Moore, svp/strategy at Overstock.com.
