The Overstock Customer Day promotion doubled the amount of furniture the e-tailer sold and generated a 20% rise in market basket versus the comparable day in the year earlier, according to Overstock.com.
The retailer noted that it also enjoyed a more than 80% gain in area rugs sold and an almost 80% advance in mattress sales versus the comparable day in the year prior. Customer Day was one of the strongest Overstock non-holiday sales events in its history, according to the company, and one of the e-tailer’s strongest selling days of 2018.
Customer Day provided consumers discounts on more than 1.5 million products during the 24-hour sale, the most in site history, Overstock asserted. Deals covered products that had never been discounted previously, including new items and highest rated favorites, across multiple categories including home décor, area rugs and bedding, as well as among exclusive private label brands.
“We wanted to do something big for our customers, and the result was the largest single-day home sales event we have ever held,” said J.P. Knab, Overstock chief marketing officer. “Customer Day wasn’t just a big day of discounts, it was one of the biggest home-shopping events of the year, and we’re proud to be the brand bringing millions of dollars of savings to our customers.”
