Philips Lighting is rolling out a major update to its Philips Hue app, one that will give users the ability to easily and quickly personalize and control their home’s Hue smart lighting system.
A new color picker feature allows consumers to group and ungroup lights in a room as well as pick an exact shade of white or colored light from the palette.
The updated app arrives with 30 new scenes handpicked by lighting designers. With a tap, users can enjoy a sunset in Honolulu or a night out in London’s Soho district. The app update also gives users more scenes to choose from and lets them easily create personalized scenes. The app extracts the relevant colors from favorite pictures and applies them to surrounding lighting.
The app has convenient shortcuts, so users can adjust Philips Hue smart lighting in a few simple taps. For example, a single press and hold on the room setup or individual lights button changes the color or resets the four last-used scenes.
“We’ve made our smart home lighting even smarter,” said Jasper Vervoort, head of marketing and product management, home systems and luminaires, at Philips Lighting. “Our new app update is easier to use than ever. In designing the upgrade, we took advice from lighting designers, user experience specialists and, most importantly, from our customers.”
