Philips has expanded its Sonicare line with the new AirFloss Pro, an interdental tool that utilizes a burst of air and water to clean the mouth in 60 seconds, noted the company.
In addition, according to a lab study, Philips said the tool can remove up to 99.9% of plaque in treated areas. Philips suggested that for consumers with mild to moderate gingivitis, use of the tool when used with an antimicrobial mouth rinse can help improve gum health as effectively as regular flossing.
“Nearly 184 million American adults report that they do not floss enough [according to a recent study by Ipsos Vantis], which means that there’s a huge population of people who can benefit from Philips Sonicare AirFloss Pro,” said Boon Lai, vp/marketing for Philips North America. “We are excited to introduce a product that is not only easy to use, but offers great health benefits and addresses a universal consumer need.”
In addition, the AirFloss Pro features a customizable burst setting that allows users to choose between single, double or triple bursts of water or mouth rinse to create their own personalized oral care experience. A nozzle features a softer tip for comfort and a wider spray to cover more gum surface.
The Philips Sonicare AirFloss Pro has a suggested retail price of $89.99.
