Portmeirion Group has acquired Nambé LLC. The company reported it purchased Nambé for $12 million.
With a focus in tableware, cookware and gifts, Portmeirion is home to brands including Spode, Royal Worcester, Pimpernel and the home fragrance and candle company, Wax, which it acquired in 2016.
Nambé has recently expanded its assortment to include barware, stemware and glassware, as well as giftware, adding to its casual, contemporary take on dinnerware and flatware.
Company officials said the acquisition provides Portmeirion with additional scale in key U.S. markets and strategically complements the existing U.S. subsidiary while continuing to diversify business into new homeware product categories.
“Nambé is synonymous with market leading design in homewares and we are hugely excited to take the brand on the next part of its journey,” said Lawrence Bryan, chief executive, Portmeirion. “Portmeirion has a great track record of adding value through acquiring quality brands that can then be leveraged through our global sales infrastructure. We are looking forward to working with the Nambé team on growing the business.“
