According to Prosper Insight & Analytics, consumer confidence slipped slightly in early February, down half a point. In all, 42% of consumers who responded to a Prosper monthly study were confident or very confident in the prospects for a strong economy.
The most recent figure is down from 49% in the month a year ago but remained above the proportion for any other year since February 2007.
The proportion of consumers saying they’ve become more practical and realistic in their purchasing actually slipped slightly to 35.8%. The percentage of respondents who said they were more focused on needs than wants in their shopping also slipped slightly, to 41.7%
