QVC is kicking off this holiday as a “Season of Social,” offering new ways for shoppers to discover gifting ideas, the company said. In addition, the omnichannel retailer will offer several holiday promotions, such as “Better than Black Friday” and focus on charitable initiatives, such as #GivingTuesday, during the holiday shopping season.
At the heart of the Season of Social is toGather, QVC’s own social shopping community where shoppers can discover and share items they love. Customers, hosts and the whole QVC community are currently curating toGather holiday collections and sharing ideas for everything from gifting to entertaining. These sharable collections will inform and inspire QVC holiday offerings across the retailer’s digital platforms, on air and QVC social channels. QVC holiday programming is also enhanced with social experiences that make QVC customers a part of the live show.
“QVC celebrates the holiday season with customers by offering all the joy and none of the craziness— an entertaining diversion from everyday life,” said Claire Watts, CEO, QVC U.S. “Our communities of hosts, expert guests and customers are curating collections of unique gifts that provide inspiration in an entertaining way. What differentiates QVC is our focus on the most important part of the season – the real relationships we have with each other, which is the foundation of our brand and the heart of our social communities.”
QVC’s Season of Social extends across social channels, mobile apps, live programming and online, QVC said. In addition, the retailer’s TV hosts are sharing holiday favorites through their own toGather collections, tips on Facebook and special holiday programming, such as “A Lisa Robertson Christmas,” airing Friday nights in November.
Throughout November, customers can also take advantage of shopping events on QVC for holiday gifts at great prices, including great values from such offers as “Today’s Special Value.”
Starting on Thanksgiving evening, QVC’s Better Than Black Friday weekend will deliver what it said are big savings on holiday gift ideas.
To bring the spirit of giving to the Season of Social, QVC will participate in #GivingTuesday, an initiative of the United Nations Foundation and the 92nd Street Y designed to create a national day of giving.
In alignment with #GivingTuesday, QVC will launch its own giving campaign, called Give Joy, which will run from December 3, 2013, through January 3, 2014. QVC selected four charities that support the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships, and will be matching customer donations up to $150,000. Give Joy beneficiaries include the American Heart Association, Cancer and Careers, Dress for Success Worldwide, and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
