Rabbit Takes Elevated Design Approach To New Barware

CHICAGO— Lifetime Brands has shifted its design approach for the Rabbit and RBT brands of bar and wine accessories for 2019, bringing more of a modern, architectural point-of-view to suit the entertaining preferences of consumers.

The shift, explained BJ Stein, division president, Lifetime Brands, is driven by changing consumer tastes, with influence and input by sister brand Chef’n, which shares product development and design teams at their home base in Seattle.

“We are seeing an enormous rise in how people are entertaining in the home and also sharing it on social media. They want to impress their guests but also show it to everyone out there as well. In addition, more consumers want to leave out their accessories on bar carts and also want them to be a part of the design of their house. There are a lot of tabletop companies offering bar and wine accessories that fit their own look and vibe to tap into that trend, and so we wanted to do something for Rabbit that was a little more modern yet functional. We also brought that to RBT, our more upscale line, adding wood, marble and zinc into the mix,” Stein said.

Of the two brands, Rabbit will have the biggest launch here, at the International Home + Housewares Show. The company has created a capsule collection of new barware products under a poolside entertaining theme with what it said are fun and functional tools for spring and summer.

The company will introduce the Rabbit Freezable Cocktail Maker, which is designed to make frozen cocktails in the freezer. The set includes a silicone cocktail carafe, neoprene sleeve, lid, muddler, stir spoon and recipe booklet to inspire consumers to make drinks such as margaritas, frosè and piña coladas. The maker crafts four to six servings and has a suggested retail price of $40.

The brand will also roll out the new Swizzle Ice Cube molds, designed to enable consumers to infuse ice spheres with fresh flavor to be added to cocktails, wine and other libations. The set of two molds, in a new speckled navy design, comes with recipe cards, two swizzle sticks and has a suggested retail price of $10.

The new Rabbit Speckle Navy Freezable Beer Glasses have a suggested retail price of $35 and are designed to keep beer cold. The silicone sleeve protects hands from the cold. The 12-ounce glasses come in a set of two. In a similar design, the company will introduce the Rabbit Speckle Navy Freezable Whiskey Glasses, with a $30 suggested retail price. The glasses are designed to chill whiskey with no dilution. The set of two 8-ounce glasses also come with silicone sleeve to protect hands.

The company has also included new ice cube trays. The King and Crushed ice trays both retail for $15. The King Ice tray makes four square 2-inch cubes and comes with a lid to protect it from freezer smells and prevents spillage. It has a silicone base for easy removal of the ice. The Crushed Ice tray makes multiple sheets of crushed ice in one use and the extra ice stores in the base.
