Amazon.com continues to see strong growth in housewares and a recent report shows the e-commerce retailer had double-digit growth in the category in 2017.
According to a report from One Click Retail, housewares sales during the past year at Amazon were $8 billion, up 20% from the prior year with products such as air fryers, pressure cookers and vacuum cleaners the top selling products. Top selling brands included Instant Pot, Dyson and iRobot, the report said.
In addition, the report noted that a major factor helping to boost Amazon’s housewares sales is the aging of Millennials, which are now entering the years in which consumers historically have purchased their first home.
“Amazon has one of the world’s biggest collections of consumer behavioral data and can use that information to predict how their customers’ buying habits will change as they enter new phases of life,” the report said. “Amazon’s focus on housewares is no passing interest. It’s a strategic move designed to anticipate (and meet) the evolving needs of its core audience.”
