Amazon.com may be taking another step toward old-school retailing as published reports indicated that the e-commerce giant is considering publishing a holiday catalog.
Bloomberg reported that Amazon is looking to fill the void left by the now defunct Toys ‘R Us, which recently closed all locations across the country, and is considering publishing a holiday toy catalog. The catalog would be mailed to millions of homes across the U.S and also be distributed at Whole Foods locations.
Amazon did not comment on the Bloomberg story.
While Amazon continues to be the dominant e-commerce player, the company has long been rumored to be seeking out traditional brick-and-mortar locations to further reach consumers and expand its distribution network. Amazon and Kohl’s are currently engaged in a multi-store test that includes Kohl’s selling select Amazon-branded consumer electronics and also accepting consumer returns of items purchased from Amazon.
