Report: Amazon Delays Prime Day Until September

Amazon is reportedly planning to delay its annual Prime Day sales event until September, as the e-commerce retailer continues to grapple with the surge in online shopping due to the coronavirus, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The company reportedly has decided that it will delay the two-day summer event, which is typically held in July, according to the report. Representatives from Amazon declined to comment on the report.

Amazon, one of HomeWorld’s 2020 Retail Champions, is likely to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic with the most gained as consumers become more reliant on online shopping, the channel it leads, but the company also has been, in many ways, the most challenged retailer in the U.S. as a tidal wave of sales has threatened to overwhelm its systems and its high profile has made it a target of scrutiny.
