According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Best Buy board of directors is investigating whether CEO Corie Barry had an inappropriate romantic relationship with a fellow executive.
That executive, Karl Sanft, former svp/retail operations, left Best Buy in early 2019 to become chief operating officer of 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide. Barry, who had been the retailer’s CFO, became Best Buy CEO in June of last year.
On December 7, the Journal reported, the Best Buy board received an anonymous letter claiming that Barry had a years-long romantic relationship with Sanft.
HomeWorld Business reached out to Best Buy for comment on the report but received no immediate response.
