J.C. Penney is on the hunt for a new chief marketing officer.
AdAge.com reported that Debra Berman, the department store chain’s head of marketing, has left the company immediately. Kirk Waidelich, vp/marketing strategy, will oversee strategy, media and marketing integration while Lynne Barton, vp/marketing strategy will handle creative, production and operations, publicity and partnerships. Both will have those responsibilities until Berman’s replacement is named.
According to the report, Berman was promoted to chief marketing officer in 2014. Before her tenure at J.C. Penney, she served as vp/marketing strategy and engagement at Kraft Foods.
It is not clear why Berman departed the company.
