Macy’s is scheduled to debut a new store prototype June 25 in Columbus, OH, which is said to focus on consumer lifestyles while also featuring in-store leased departments.
According to a report in the Columbus Dispatch, construction on the store located at the Easton Town Center began in late March. Among the new features will be a Restore, Nourish and Strengthen department that will include athletic footwear, yoga-related merchandise, Fitbit personal health monitoring devices and a full-service juice and smoothie bar. Full-time “fitness ambassadors” will also be on hand to assist shoppers.
Also included in the store is a salon offering various services including facials and waxing, a hair salon, a tuxedo shop operated by Men’s Warehouse and free wedding stylist.
Kathi Newton, vp/store manager, Macy’s, told The Dispatch that instead of merely teaching someone to work at a register, they are focused on hiring employees who understand the lifestyles of consumers.
