Newell Rubbermaid and Jarden Corp. are said to be in talks to merge the two home products behemoths, the Wall St. Journal reported Monday evening.
If completed, the merger would bring together two companies that supply an array of housewares products in various categories including small kitchen electrics, personal care, home environment and home storage with several well-known brands including Mr. Coffee, Crock-Pot and Rubbermaid.
The merger, if completed, would result in a company with total annual sales of $14 billion, the Wall St. Journal said.
A spokesperson for Newell Rubbermaid declined comment to HomeWorldBusiness.com, saying the company does comment on rumors or speculation. Jarden officials were not immediately available for comment.
