Report: Sears To Stop Selling Whirlpool Products

Sears and Whirlpool are ending a relationship that dates back more than a century as the retailer said it would no longer sell products from the appliance manufacturer.

Citing an internal Sears memo sent to stores over the past week, CNBC reported that Sears would no longer sell Whirlpool appliances, which include products sold under several sub-brands including Maytag, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air.

In the memo, Sears officials said that Whirlpool sought to use its “dominant position” in the marketplace to make demands that would have prohibited the retailers from offering Whirlpool products “at reasonable prices.”

Sears said it would sell those Whirlpool appliances currently on hand until the inventory has been depleted.
