Rite Aid Front End Sales Gain In September

September sales at Rite Aid rose 4.5% as the drug store chain also reported solid growth in comparable store sales.

According to the company, comp store sales rose 5.1% over September of 2013. Front-end comps, including those for general merchandise such as home goods, advanced 2.3%.

Total store sales in the four-week period ended September 27 gained 4.5%, reaching $2.02 billion, according to the retailer. Same store sales for the 30-week period ended September 27 increased 3.8 percent over the prior-year period.

As of September 27, Rite Aid operated 4,571 stores versus 4,603 stores in at the same time a year ago, the company said.
