In partnership with Universal Security Instruments, Roost, a technology company, has expanded its smart home portfolio with the launch of the Roost Smart Smoke Alarms.
Marking Roost’s entry into the smart smoke alarm market, the new line adds to the company’s fire, carbon monoxide and natural gas alarms.
The new line includes the RSA-400 and RSA-200 models. The RSA-400 is a smoke, fire, CO and natural gas detector, and the RSA-200 is a smoke and fire detector. Both units are 120-volt, hard-wired alarms and include a Roost Smart Battery.
“As a leader in smart home technology, Roost’s mission is to create easy and affordable ways for consumers to enter the smart home market. Our first major leap forward was the introduction of the Roost 9V Smart Battery, and the journey continues today with the availability of the new Roost Smart Smoke Alarms,” said Roel Peeters, Roost CEO and co-founder. “Featuring enhanced sensor technology, the RSA-400 and RSA-200 further expand Roost’s family of award-winning smart home safety products.”
The new smart smoke alarms allow consumers to receive notifications on their smartphones whenever the alarm sounds, even when outside the home. They will also notify users weeks in advance when they need to replace the battery.
The Roost Smart Battery features an estimated five-year battery life and includes a snap-in replaceable battery pack, which carries an MSRP of $9.99. The RSA-400 has an MSRP of $79.99, and the RSA-200 has an MSRP of $59.99.
