Fiskars Corporation’s Royal Copenhagen brand will launch the Blomst dinnerware collection at the upcoming spring New York Tabletop Market, to be held April 2 to 5 at Forty One Madison. This is the company’s first dinner service launch in a decade.
The Blomst collection is a reinterpretation of one of the company’s oldest decorations in its history, Blue Flower, according to company officials. The collection was designed by the Dutch artist Wouter Dolk and each piece is decorated with a single hand painted flower. The company described the design as giving new life to the iconic elements and characteristic Royal Copenhagen cobalt blue.
“We knew that we wanted to work with Blue Flower, which is a classic that has existed back from the time of our origin. As the process moved along, it just evolved into a new independent design, which has references to our history, but with a more sleek, simple aesthetic, that can be found similar in Asian traditional stoneware. Blomst is a reinterpretation of something that is classic and unmistakably us,” said Niels Bastrup, creative director at Royal Copenhagen.
The pieces in the dinnerware service take on a new body and shape that is angular and simple. In combination with the delicate and feminine flowers, the company said the collection appears both modern and timeless.
