Thomas Sabatino Jr., evp, global chief legal and administrative officer, Walgreens Boots Alliance, is leaving the company to join Hertz Global Holdings as senior evp, chief administrative officer and general counsel, effective February 9, according to the retailer. Sabatino will remain in his current role with Walgreens Boots through January’s end to ensure a smooth transition of his current responsibilities.
The company stated that it expects to announce his successor at Sabatino’s final departure. He joined Walgreens as evp, general counsel and corporate secretary in 2011, and in his present role helped cement the recent Walgreen’s Boots merger initiative.
“In addition to building a world-class legal organization as general counsel and working closely with the board of directors through this pivotal period for the company, Tom played a vital role in helping us to close the merger before the end of 2014 and in overseeing the integration of our two companies over the course of the past year,” said Jim Skinner, Walgreens Boots Alliance executive chairman, in announcing the departure.
