Samsung Electronics America has opened a new Global Marketing Center of Excellence (COE), and appointed Marc Mathieu as U.S. chief marketing officer and Jesse Coulter as chief creative officer.
The appointments, said the company, represent the latest in a series of investments in talent and resources it has made to strengthen and diversify its marketing organization.
According to Samsung, Mathieu will lead U.S.-based marketing across all lines of business including home appliance, home entertainment and telecommunications. Additionally, he will oversee the marketing center, which the company stated was designed to be home to the U.S.-based creative, digital, content services and brand marketing teams.
Mathieu brings nearly two decades of expertise building and positioning brands. He most recently served as svp/global marketing at Unilever and previously held the position of svp/global brand marketing at Coca-Cola.
Reporting to Mathieu, Coulter will lead next-generation ideation, strategies and marketing campaigns across the North America product portfolio, according to Samsung. Coulter is a seasoned brand and creative professional having recently held the position of co-chief creative officer for marketing at Creative Artists Agency where he led numerous award-winning campaigns for brands such as Chipotle.
“Marc is a storied marketing leader known for developing talent, innovating and driving big ideas across the business,” said Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America. “Today’s appointments matched with the opening of the COE mark a new chapter in marketing for Samsung.”
The new marketing center currently occupies three floors of office space at Samsung’s new flagship building in New York City. The building, which is scheduled to be completed later this year, will also feature an executive briefing center, experiential product showcase and event space.
