Sears Canada CEO Resigns

Sears Canada is searching for a new CEO following the resignation of Douglas C. Campbell.

According to the retailer, Campbell is stepping down at the end of the year and returning to the United States to “tend to personal family issues.” Sears Canada’s board of directors will be commencing a search for a replacement.

“Doug brought a focus on creating value for shareholders while taking the cost efficiency and investment steps necessary to produce a viable and profitable Canadian retailer,” said William C. Crowley, chairman of the board for Sears Canada.

In a statement, Campbell expressed his gratitude to Sears Canada associates who “worked tirelessly to take care of our customers and to maintain the position of Sears Canada as a great retailer focused on serving Canadian families.”
