Sears Holdings will close another 46 locations as part of what company officials said is an ongoing effort to focus on its best stores.
The latest round of closures includes 33 Sears stores and 13 Kmart stores. Company officials said the stores will be closed by November.
“We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed,” the company said in a prepared statement.
The company’s most recent 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission noted that in the 13 week period ended May 5, Sears Holdings closed 67 Kmart stores and 41 Sears locations.
As of May 5, the company operated 529 Sears stores and 365 Kmart locations.
