Sears Moves Forward With New Round Of Store Closures

Sears Holdings is closing an additional 63 stores that includes 45 Kmart locations and 18 Sears stores.

The struggling retailer said the latest round of store closures, which covers locations in 26 states, is a continuation of Sears Holdings’ strategic assessment of the productivity of its store base and the move to right-size its store footprint in number and size.

“As previously announced, we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members,” Sears officials said in a statement.

Liquidation sales at each store are slated to begin as early as November 9 at these closing stores.
