Target-owned delivery provider Shipt has said that consumers nationwide can now shop through its service without making a membership commitment.
Shipt is allowing consumers to pay by the order, buying Shipt passes for one, three or five deliveries at a price of $10, $9 or $8 depending on how many are purchased. The per-delivery options come as an alternative to the company’s annual membership, which provides unlimited order deliveries on orders totalling $35 or more per purchase occasion for $99.
A test of non-member options conducted earlier this year, which offered consumers with one-, three- or five-time pass options, resulted in a positive consumer response, with pay-per-order single-use passes and packs favored. The company experienced a 25% increase in new customers with the pay-per-order option, Shipt added. Customers can move from a pay-per-order to a subscription model at any time. Since the company began rolling out passes nationwide, almost 80% of new users began engaging the service via the single- or multi-use offerings, Shipt noted
“Ever since Shipt first launched with our subscription membership model, our customers have responded positively,” said Kelly Caruso, Shipt CEO. “And up until now, all of our customers had an ongoing membership with us. However, we knew that we had an opportunity to introduce even more people to Shipt by allowing them to shop with us in ways that best suit their needs. The challenges consumers have faced during the pandemic further strengthened our resolve to make Shipt as accessible to as many customers as possible.”
