Shun Tags Chef Zimmern As Brand Ambassador

Shun Cutlery has named James Beard Award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer and teacher Andrew Zimmern as a digital partner for the company’s Japanese cutlery.

Zimmern will assist in promoting the brand through his social media network and personal industry contacts, the company said. He will also help teach knife skills and knife care to his wide base of fans, followers and viewers.

“At Kai USA and Shun Cutlery, we are extremely pleased to welcome Andrew Zimmern as one of our Shun Brand Ambassadors,” Jack Igarashi, chief of North American Operations, Kai USA, Ltd. said. “Chef Zimmern has long been a supporter of our fine cutlery and now we are happy to make him an official part of the Shun family.”

In May 2013, Zimmern won the James Beard Award for “Best Television Personality/Host” for the second time for his show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, which he created, executive produces and hosts. The show airs on The Travel Channel and on the network’s web-series.

“We definitely took notice that Andrew Zimmern has been a fan of Shun products,” said Chris Brooks, marketing/advertising manager for the company. “Now we are excited to be working with him to educate even more people about the benefits, the use and the care of our Shun handcrafted Japanese cutlery.”

According to Zimmern, “Several years ago my friend Chris Cosentino gave me a pair of his Shun Blue knives and I have been a devotee ever since. Shun is stylish, affordable and performs beautifully. I am looking forward to sharing what I know with the world of Shun fans and spreading the gospel of good food and great tools with those that are starting their food lives.”
