Smeg has launched fully matte versions of its classic retro-style two-slice toaster and electric kettle.
Each of the appliances is now available in fully matte shades of black, exclusive to Williams-Sonoma, and white, exclusive to Crate & Barrel, with matte champagne and matte slate gray coming soon. The new colorways are said to be a departure from Smeg’s signature pastel offerings, and bring a sleek and neutral high-design look to the classic retro appliances.
Enameled in modern matte and accented with a ball lever knob, the retro two-slice toaster browns bread at six levels with three convenient pre-set programs. Extra-side slots accommodate different slice widths, and self-centering racks ensure even toasting. Suggested retail price is $199.95.
With its bullet shape and chrome metal accents, the matte electric kettle goes beyond basics with a soft-opening lid to manage steam release and a swivel base that goes full circle. Features include auto-shutoff when water reaches boil and when the kettle is lifted from the base. Suggested retail price is $199.95.
