Staples Debuts Student-Designed Back-To-School Product Line

Staples is expanding its assortment of back-to-school products with several items that were designed by students as part of the office superstore’s “Designed by Students” education initiatives. The products will hit store shelves on June 28.

Among the 10 products included in the new line are a portable desk, tray desk and floating locker shelves. Also included are folders, pencil pouches, backpacks and lunch bags.

“Staples is empowering students to make more happen through research, collaboration and entrepreneurial thinking,” said Scott Young, svp/product and business development, Staples. “The first Designed by Students program gave students the opportunity to collaborate and solve real-life problems. Students were able to see how their ideas and creativity transformed into innovative new products.”

Priced at $39.99, the portable desk is said by Staples to allow students to do classwork anytime and anywhere. The colorful portable desk features a smooth writing surface and includes interior compartments for notebook and pencil storage and has a side slot for headphones and power cords.

The tray desk features an interior base that doubles as a dry erase board and smooth writing surface. The desk, priced at $29.99, includes inside mesh pockets for writing essentials and a horizontal pocket to hold papers in place.

The floating locker shelves are priced at $12.99 and feature reversible color combos to create four triangular sections for storing school essentials.
