According to a study by Clutch, a B2B ratings and reviews platform, 54% of online shoppers are members of a subscription box service.
Dollar Shave Club is the most popular subscription service with 29% of consumers who have signed up for such regular product deliveries receiving shipments from the company. The subscription service top five brands continue with Ipsy with 21%; Blue Apron with 17%; BarkBox with 17%; and HelloFresh with 16%.
Amir Elaguizy, co-founder of Cratejoy, a global subscription box marketplace, attributed the rise of Dollar Shave Club and other services in the channel to the growth of e-commerce, increased social media use and consumer comfort with paying for value over time.
Clutch asserted that many consumers today accept that subscription boxes provide them with value over time for a flat fee and so no longer need the direct association of purchasing items for an exact price.
