Sustainability Initiative Returns To Winter NYIGF

The “SustainAbility: design for a better world” program returns to the New York International Gift Fair, which will take place January 29-February 3, 2011 at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
“Our industry’s awareness of sustainability continues to grow with some 15% or our overall audience indicating an interest in sustainable, recycled and green products,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and senior vp/GLM.
The winter 2011 SustainAbility display of green and socially responsible product, curated by Ilene Shaw of Shaw + Co! Productions, will feature nearly 200 products from 85 companies. Retailers can cast Eco Choice Awards ballots for products in the categories Most Innovative, Most Sensitive Use of Materials and Most Sellable.
Two complementary educational seminars are planned. “It’s Easy Being Green– Just Ask the Experts!” will be held on January 31 from noon to 1:30 p.m. On February 1, Carmen Iezzi, executive director of the Fair Trade Federation, will lead a panel discussion on “Demystifying Fair Trade” from noon to 1:30 p.m.
