Dollar Tree Appoints Philbin CEO

As part of a planned leadership succession, Dollar Tree said that Bob Sasser, the company’s CEO since 2004, will now assume the role of executive chairman of the board. Gary Philbin, enterprise president, has been promoted to president and chief executive officer and has been appointed to the board of directors.

NPD: Walmart, McDonald’s, Target Top Shopped-At List

A newly released study from The NPD Group’s Checkout Tracking shows that some of the biggest names in retailing and food service have become thoroughly woven into American life, reaching a high percentage of buyers at least once a year with Walmart, McDonald’s and Target on top. More than 80% of consumers in the United States shopped at those retailers in 2016.

Dollar Tree Records Big Gains In Q4

For the fourth quarter ended January 28, Dollar Tree saw earnings, post-merger with Family Dollar, jump to $321.8 million, or $1.36 per diluted share, from $229 million or 97 cents per diluted share, in the year-prior period.
