Lidl To Open 25 New Stores Along East Coast

As part of its ongoing expansion along the East Coast, Lidl U.S. said it plans to open 25 new stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia by spring of 2020.

Report: Save-A-Lot Exploring Sale

Save-A-Lot, a discount grocer owned by private equity firm Onex Corp., is exploring a sale of all or part of itself, as it deals with increased competition and debt load, according to a recent Reuters report.

Lidl Readies New York Store Expansion

In the first of several waves of openings on Long Island, New York, Lidl U.S. said it will open stores in Plainview, Babylon, Huntington, and Center Moriches by early 2020. The initiative follows the company’s recent acquisition of the Best Market grocery store chain.

Lidl Names Fieber U.S. President/CEO

Supermarket chain Lidl has named Johannes Fieber its president and CEO. He will assume oversight of U.S. operations in the coming months, according to the company, and replace Brendan Proctor who has led U.S. operations since June 2015.

Lidl Prepares U.S. Store Launch

Lidl is ready to take on the retail market in the U.S. The supermarket operator, which earlier in the year announced it would open 20 stores in the U.S. this summer, has set a grand opening date of June 15.
