Walgreens Q3 Beats Street But Retail Comps Slip

Walgreens beat Wall Street estimates in its third quarter, although retail comps slipped. The company released its third quarter results following the news that Amazon is acquiring an online pharmacy.

Walgreens is focusing on what it called a legacy of care in a new, multifaceted brand positioning and identity that recently launched. The theme is reflected in the company’s new tagline, “Walgreens. Trusted since 1901.”

Rite Aid Q2 Comps Decline

As Rite Aid completed a store purchase deal with Walgreens and appointed a new president, the drug store chain saw its comparable store sales decline in the second quarter.
