Target Focuses On Personal Style For Back-To-School Students

In the back-to-school season, Target is applying research it garnered about Millennials to create a path to reaching student shoppers and their parents. Target developed the Made For U College Styler, a co-created product collection, to help inspire students as they shop for their dorm rooms and apartments.

The Made For U College Styler uses a student’s social profiles and a lifestyle questionnaire to create a personalized dorm room design with curated products that offer on-trend décor and small-space living solutions. Users can even swap results with future roommates to help coordinate styles on a shared list of necessities.

According to a Target spokesperson, many of the products recommended by the U College Styler come from two partnerships established by the retailer, one with Betterific, an open crowd-sourcing community focused on innovation, and with Umbra.

“Target is launching the Made For U College Styler to let students create a personalized dorm room design for themselves as well as inviting a roommate to combine their styles together. Based on our research of the back-to-college guest, Target knows that today’s digitally driven college students live online, so Target created tools for those Millennials, helping inspire students as they design and shop for their dorm room and apartments,” the spokesperson told HomeWorld Business.
