The Container Store is teaming up with Goodwill in a promotion dubbed “Kiss Clutter Goodbye” that runs through May 15. The campaign includes two item donation weekend events at The Container Store’s 79 locations nationwide, as well as a monetary donation initiative in partnership with Goodwill through the end of the campaign.
As part of the donation events, Goodwill representatives will be in stores from April 23 to 24 and from April 30 to May 1 to accept donations of new or used clothing, textiles, small appliances and household goods. Customers can make monetary donations to Goodwill via the Container Store through the end of the campaign.
Customers who donate goods during those weekend periods will receive a free, co-branded bag from The Container Store that they can take home as a reminder to declutter and donate to Goodwill throughout the year. Customers who make a monetary donation of $5 or more throughout the campaign also will receive the free bag.
To correspond with Kiss Clutter Goodbye events, Container Store will organize prize drawings, demonstrations from noon to 4 p.m. of popular decluttering solutions and techniques, and appearances by expert guests and the retailer’s professional organizers.
To promote the campaign and partnership with Goodwill, The Container Store will include messaging about the charity throughout its communications including direct mail, customer emails, social media and online marketing. The messaging also will run in Container Store and Goodwill customer blogs to remind readers about the donation events, share tips on how to declutter and highlight how Goodwill donations are the beginning of job creation.
