Tractor Supply Co.’s new distribution center in Casa Grande, AZ, has earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council.
The grant is the second LEED Silver certification awarded to a Tractor Supply facility within the last year, the company noted.
The new 600,000 square-foot facility began receiving inventory in early October, and is on schedule to begin shipping to stores this month. The facility has the capacity to service upwards of 250 stores in the Southwest region, Tractor Supply said.
The company stated that it expects the new distribution center to reduce energy costs by 40% compared with baseline code requirements, and reduce potable water usage by 40% indoors and 72% outdoors.
“We are extremely proud to be opening our second LEED Silver certified facility, as Tractor Supply continues to demonstrate an ongoing commitment, through our stewardship program, to environmental sustainability,” said Benjamin Parish, svp/general counsel and corporate secretary, who oversees the stewardship program at Tractor Supply. “Our stewardship program is a process of continuous improvement as we identify ways to become more efficient, eliminate waste and reduce our impact on the environment.”
