Twitter Tests E-Commerce Capabilities

Twitter has announced that the company is publicly testing a “buy now” button that will enable users to purchase products from artists and retailers immediately within the social network. According to reports, Home Depot and Burberry are two retailers participating in the test. 

The button is embedded directly in posts , allowing users to buy a product with a couple of clicks, reports said. Once engaged with the Buy button on the twitter message, users are prompted to enter their credit card and shipping information or, if its already on file, the program asks them to click again to confirm the purchase. 

Reports say that payment processor Stripe will handle the financial side of the transactions, and that three marketing platforms— Francy, Musictoday and Gumroad— will work with the sellers to handle product presentation and order fulfillment.
