Union Square Readies For Walgreens Flagship Re-Opening

Walgreens has announced that the official grand re-opening of its newest 24/7 flagship store, located in Union Square, Manhattan, will commence at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Walgreens flagship stores generally feature elaborate merchandising of several home furnishings and housewares categories, and the company stated that the Union Square location will feature innovative health and daily living offerings.

Walgreens opened in the Union Square area in 2001 and has renovated the store in accordance with its new Well Experience format, which, according to the retailer, provides products, services and solutions in unique and innovative ways that are customized for the local community.

The store also will features an expanded beauty and personal care section, establishing itself as a destination shopping experience for categories including skincare, color cosmetics, hair care, dental, grooming and baby, Walgreens noted. Also key to the flagship operation are an advanced printing and photo department, an upmarket food and consumables selection, a new checkout configuration designed to be more convenient and Web Pickup, which allows customers to access the entire store’s online assortment and grab purchases at the location.

“Walgreens is thrilled to provide customers our newest New York flagship location– unlike any traditional drugstore– in Manhattan’s historic Union Square,” Skip Bourdo, Walgreens market vp said in announcing the grand opening. “This location has been transformed to become customers’ first choice for health and daily living, and we look forward to continuing to help the residents and visitors of the Union Square neighborhood get, stay and live well.”
