Vista Alegre Broadens Reach With Bordallo Pinheiro

Vista Alegre USA will debut a new brand to the U.S. market at its showroom at the Forty One Madison building during the fall New York Tabletop Market. The Portuguese brand Bordallo Pinheiro features earthenware tableware and home décor pieces that are vividly colored and depict elements of nature in distinctively shaped, functional figural and serveware product.

The brand shares a rich history like that of the Vista Alegre brand, in that it was established in the late 19th century. Bordallo Pinheiro was established in 1884 and it shares a commonality in the traditional Portuguese art of ceramics, Daniel Da Silva, president of Vista Alegre USA, told NOUVEAU®.

For Vista Alegre USA, Bordallo Pinheiro will allow the company to broaden the retail base that it can reach in that the styles of the two brands differ completely. “Some very nice retailers do not carry tabletop, but they will be very interested in fun, casual, colorful products. The design [of Bordallo Pinheiro]is appealing to stores who only focus on housewares and casual product,” said Da Silva.

Bordallo Pinheiro collections that will debut at the New York Tabletop Market will include animal motifs such as crustaceans, fish, and roosters and fruits and plants such as cabbages, banana leaves, melons, strawberries and tomatoes.
