Wahl continues to maintain its social media and tour campaigns to keep consumers’ attention on its grooming tools and encourage men’s styling efforts.
After a yearlong promotional search for this year’s “Man of the Year,” Wahl awarded the title to Conor Barrett, who sports a full beard. In addition to being named Wahl’s “Man of the Year,” the Pittsburgh native will also receive a $1,000 grand prize and will appear in a national Wahl advertisement.
The contest is part of Wahl’s annual “Face the Day” Tour that comprises a 30-foot mobile barbershop, equipped with a team of Master Barbers that travel across the U.S., visiting the most facial hair friendly cities, according to the company. In addition to providing interested consumers free trims and grooming tips, the tour gives Wahl the opportunity to seek out men that demonstrate and celebrate facial hair excellence. The company chose one finalist from each of the 11 city tour stops. Finalists each won a Wahl Lithium ion stainless steel trimmer and $500.
Wahl also tapped into its social media following to help choose an additional online finalist, as well as to help choose the overall winner— voting was conducted on the company’s Facebook page.
“Every year we go on a quest to find real guys with a real passion for great facial hair,” said Steven Yde, marketing director, Wahl. “This contest is a way for us to celebrate men who not only make facial fuzz a part of their life— they make it look good. Conor is a great example of this and we’re proud to have him represent Wahl.”
