Now through April 30, Walmart is accepting applications for its 6th annual Open Call event for products that support American jobs and domestic manufacturing.
The Open Call initiative is a two-day event for Walmart’s buyers to meet face-to-face with entrepreneurs with one goal in mind: buy more American-made, sourced or grown products.
Open Call is part of Walmart’s commitment to purchase an additional $250 billion in products made, sourced or grown in the U.S. by 2023. The company’s Open Call program underscores that commitment and helps the retailer make a difference on an issue its customers care about, according to the company.
Last June, more than 350 businesses met with Walmart’s buyers during Open Call. Last year’s event included nearly 600 meetings with pitches for a wide range of products, including toys, clothing, natural health and beauty aids, and food. Participants traveled from 46 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. More than half of all businesses attending Open Call last year self-identified as diverse, including nearly 25% identifying as women-owned, noted the company.
