With the holidays just over and seasonal results awaiting announcement, Walmart has made a number of executive changes including the replacement of evp/chief merchandising officer Steve Bratspies in the U.S. business by Scott McCall and the appointment of Dacona Smith as COO Walmart U.S.
A 14-year Walmart veteran, Bratspies has been chief merchant for four and a half years, Walmart stated in a memo shared with HomeWorld Business. McCall headed up the company entertainment and toys business in the U.S. and, earlier in his career, was a home DMM. Smith was COO of the company’s Sam’s Club operation.
In other moves affecting its Walmart U.S. operations, the company promoted Kelvin Buncum to evp/Neighborhood Markets. Buncum was regional general manager for the company’s North Georgia territory and previously served as a Sam’s Club RGM and vp/innovations and global business processes. The company also promoted Latriece Watkins to evp/consumables. She has served in a variety of merchandising roles at Walmart and Sam’s Club, including adult beverages, snacks and beverages, and consumables and OTC.
In the Walmart customer organization, Meng Chee joins the company as its first evp/chief product officer, a new role that focuses on delivering outstanding customer experiences and leveraging technology to do so. Chee was JP Morgan Chase digital chief experience officer. Also, Walmart stated that Alex Kreuger, svp/voice of the customer, will lead an expanded customer care organization, moving over from from supply chain, where he was overseeing fulfillment centers.
At Sam’s Club, the company has promoted Lance de la Rosa, evp/COO of the warehouse club. His previous roles include Sam’s Club svp/operations transformation. In addition, Walmart has appointed Vinod Bidarkoppa as svp/Sam’s Club technology. He was svp/technology at UnitedHealth Group and is a past Tesco executive, Walmart noted.
