With an eye toward the back-to-school selling season, Walmart is launching several new initiatives that the retailer said will ease the shopping experience for parents and students as kids head back to the classroom.
Those new initiatives include new app and online tools for parents, teachers and students; the Buy the Room feature; Teacher Shop; enhancements to its delivery and store pickup offerings; and a continued focus on offering low prices on a host of school supplies and school related items.
“Walmart has always been known for our low prices, but giving parents time back is also valuable currency when they’re deciding where to shop for all their back-to-school needs,” said Scott Bayles, Walmart’s dean of back-to-class.
With dorm room furnishings and housewares products staple categories for the back-to-school/campus season, Walmart has created its Buy the Room feature. Offering nine curated collections that include up to 20 items, this feature allows consumers shopping online to easily select and purchase all items in each collection.
Updates to Walmart’s app and online tools allow parents to find and shop for products needed specific to their child’s classroom. In addition, the retailer is also adding hundreds of back-to-school items to its pickup and online grocery delivery programs.
